"Mother Goddess" 

Hand printed with oil based ink on %100 cotton rag paper. Unframed (does not come with a frame) Each print is unique, original, and signed by the artist.

Printed from a hand carved block based on original artwork by the artist. Because each piece is hand printed there will be variations in inking that make each one unique, this is natural and part of the hand-printing process. All artwork is titled, signed and dated. Artwork will be carefully packaged and sent in a plastic sleeve and cardboard envelope.

My inspirations:

I grew up playing in the woods behind my dad’s house and developed a deep respect for nature and the animals that made it their home. On walks with my husband and daughter I pick up leaves and nuts, photograph flowers and mushrooms to later inspire drawings and prints. I like to look for things that people barely pay any attention to. I’m fascinated with the way nature is perfectly imperfect, the balance between light and dark, organic shapes, the night sky and constellations.

This print was inspired by a religious artwork of a saint my mother-in-law has in her home, however, I wanted to change the narrative of this stylized figure and create a representation of mother nature, finding a connection between the earth and the night sky. Though my version is not religious in nature I have always loved the artistic style and serenity of female saint/Mary portraits.
